Certificate-issuing machines

Certificate-issuing machines are installed at 15 on-campus locations. (Refer to map below. Locations may change as needed.) Current students (enrolled since 1989 or later) can use any of these machines to obtain certificates that are authorized for issuance by their current or previous Faculties or Graduate Schools.

To learn about the types of documents available from certificate-issuing machines, contact the student affairs section (such as kyomu gakari) of the Faculty or Graduate School concerned.

For regular students (undergraduate and graduate)

  • Student travel discount certificate (student discount coupon for JR)
  • Tsugaku Shomeisho (certificate of commuter status)
  • Certificate of student status (Japanese and English)
  • Certificate of (expected) graduation/course completion (Japanese and English)
  • Certificate of withdrawal (Japanese and English)
  • Academic transcript (Japanese and English)
  • Academic transcript and certificate of (expected) graduation/course completion
  • Certificate of (expected) conditional withdrawal (with approval of the supervisor)
  • Medical examination completion certificate
  • Medical examination results
  • Certificate of Enrollment of Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (PAS) and Liability Insurance coupled with PAS (Japanese)
  • MEXT Scholarship Certificate

For non-regular students (such as audit students and credited auditors)

  • Certificate of student status (Japanese and English)
  • Academic transcript (Japanese and English)
  • Certificate of health checkup
  • Health checkup results

Hours

Most of the machines are in service from Monday through Friday 8:30-18:00, but some locations have different hours, so caution is advised.

All machines are out of service on the following dates: national holidays, 18 June (University Foundation Day), from Monday through Wednesday of the third week of August, from 29 December through 3 January, and the afternoon of the last weekday of September and March.

Please also note that there is always a possibility of this service becoming temporarily unavailable due to maintenance or technical issues, so it is advisable to try to obtain required documents as early as possible.

How to operate a certificate-issuing machine

  1. Have a Student ID Card verified and enter an ECS-ID (student account) password
  2. Follow the audio and onscreen guidance (available in Japanese and English), and tap on the screen as instructed

Notes:

  • ECS-ID passwords are to be set by students following instructions provided at a Faculty/Graduate School orientation session or a similar event, where Student ID Cards (or a personal ID card) are also issued.
    Those still uncertain about the procedure after attending one of those sessions are advised to bring their Student ID Card to the South Building of the Academic Center for Computing and Media Studies (ACCMS), and ask for assistance.

  • Those who need to have an academic transcript or other documents supplied in a sealed envelope, or have questions or concerns about an issued certificate, are advised to contact the student affairs section of the Faculty or Graduate School concerned.
  • In the event of a technical issue encountered during the operation of a certificate-issuing machine, please notify the office in charge as specified in the above table.
