The Kyoto University Museum manages and develops the University's valuable museum collection and research resource archives. The museum collection currently consists of 2.6 million specimens, which are relevant to a wide spectrum of fields from the humanities, to the natural sciences, to engineering. As a valuable research and educational resource, the collection is frequently used by researchers both at the museum and also from around the world.
The museum's permanent and temporary exhibitions, and frequently held lectures and events are enjoyed by visitors of all ages, and the museum has come to be regarded as a gateway between the University and the community. Many researchers and students enthusiastically participate in our research, education, and outreach activities. This network of individuals within the University allows the museum to function as a unique center for the exchange of academic ideas.
