The rapid expansion of human activity threatens forest and coastal biospheres, causing severe environmental problems. The goal of the Field Science Education and Research Center is to understand the relationship between those biospheres and to rehabilitate their ecosystems to a sustainable state. Current projects include field research on the banks of the Yura River (Kyoto), Koza River (Wakayama) and Niyodo River (Kochi). Each project involves collaboration with the local government and citizens to maximize the value of its findings.
