On 7 April, Kyoto University held an entrance ceremony for the students who had matriculated in April 2020, at the Kyoto International Exhibition Hall, Miyako Messe. The ceremony had originally been scheduled for April 2020, but had been cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With Executive Vice-Presidents, Deans, and Directors, as well as former President Juichi Yamagiwa in attendance, President Nagahiro Minato delivered a speech addressing both the graduate and undergraduate students comprising the class of 2020.
