Instituted in FY2005, the Kyoto University President's Award annually recognizes both individual KU students and groups who have helped to elevate the University's prestige -- and have set examples for other students -- by earning public recognition through academic or research excellence, outstanding performance in nationwide competitions or contests (achieved as part of an extracurricular activity), or performed valuable services to society as part of volunteer or other activities, as well as those deemed worthy of the accolade.
Award recipients are selected by Kyoto University's President from among candidates nominated by the University's faculty, staff, and students, and screened by the Student Award Screening Committee.
Kyoto University faculty, staff, or students who know of an individual or group who might qualify for candidacy are encouraged to submit nomination, including a completed nomination form , to Kagaikatsudo Gakari (Extracurricular Activities Section), Welfare Division, Education Promotion and Student Support Department (self-nominations allowed).
