Rakuseikai, the Kyoto University Alumni association of Singapore, consists of KU graduates residing in the city and Singaporeans who studied at KU. On 20 October, it held a meeting including Mr Kenji Shinoda (Faculty of Law 1976), Ambassador of Japan to Singapore, and 46 Rakuseikai members in attendance.
After welcoming remarks by Mr Masakazu Yoshida (Faculty of Engineering 1967), Rakuseikai chairman, were read due to his absence, Ambassador Shinoda delivered a speech on topics including his years at high school and Kyoto University, and this year's marking of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Singapore.
During a meet-and-greet, participants actively socialized and reminisced about their university days. At a meeting that followed, four new members introduced themselves, and two KU students currently studying in Singapore delivered greetings. Finally, representing Singaporean KU graduates, Mr Daniel Goh (Faculty of Engineering 1986) delivered closing remarks. The meeting wrapped up in a lively mood with all joining in KU's rallying song "Shinsei no Ibuki".
