Kyoto University is committed to building a sustainable campus, where all members of the community recognize their responsibility for sustainability, and take part in the discussion and solution of global environmental problems.
The University aims to address and raise awareness of environmental issues as part of an urban center that continues to develop 12 centuries after the city's founding, and in which the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997.
Kyoto University already has a broad range of sustainability initiatives underway, all of them involving not just students, faculty, and staff, but also all other members of the university community, both on and off campus.
