On 28 April, the Japanese government announced that it will award a Medal with Purple Ribbon for spring 2018 to Professor Seiji Ogawa of the Graduate School of Medicine, along with 27 other individuals.
The Medal with Purple Ribbon biannually recognizes outstanding individual and group contributions to academic and artistic developments, improvements, and accomplishments.
The award ceremony was held 15 May 2018.
