On 8-10 November, 6-8 December 2016, and 10 January 2017, the International Education and Student Mobility Division, together with the International Academic Research and Resource Center for Language Education, Institute for Liberal and Arts and Science (ILAS), held a series of events entitled Kyoteiko Hiroba , or "Partner Universities Square", at the ILAS Building.

Kyoteiko Hiroba promotes interaction among students going to and from Kyoto University's exchange-partner institutions. It is also a chance for those interested in studying abroad to learn about available opportunities, and an occasion to help inbound exchange students develop deeper connections with Kyoto University and Japan.

At these events, exchange students from partner universities delivered presentations, either in English or in Japanese, on their home universities and countries: University of Auckland (New Zealand),  University of New South Wales, University of Melbourne, University of Sydney (Australia), University of the Philippines (Philippines), Airlangga University (Indonesia), University of Texas at Austin, University of Washington (USA), University of Glasgow (UK), Humboldt University of Berlin, University of Bonn (Germany), and Stockholm University (Sweden). Presentations each day were followed by informal discussion, where attendees enjoyed international networking over lunch.

Held over seven days, the three events attracted a total of 185 students -- including 30 from 10 countries outside Japan -- indicating an increased interest among KU students in studying abroad.

The next Kyoteiko Hiroba events are scheduled for the 2017 academic year.
