On 30 July, Kyoto University's Tokyo Office hosted the fourth and final installment of a lecture series on "Life: From Birth to Death" -- the 18th session of a series offered under the program, Tokyo de Manabu Kyoto no Chi ("Learning in Tokyo about the Latest from Kyoto University Researchers"), which is aimed at introducing general audiences in the Tokyo area to the latest research out of KU. Delivered by Professor Takashi Shinohara of the Graduate School of Medicine, the lecture focused on the "Picture of Life Emerging from Cell Culture".

In his talk, Professor Shinohara highlighted the vital roles played by cell culture in life sciences, going on to describe the development history of the procedure over the past 100-plus years and its specific contributions to contemporary medicine. He also delved into the future potential of cell culture and his own research on germ cells, while addressing the question of "life" itself.

The attendees appeared to be highly satisfied with the event, listening attentively to the lecture and actively participating in the subsequent Q&A session.
