A group of faculty and students from Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University (PSAU)'s College of Science and Humanities (CSH), Saudi Arabia, visited Kyoto University's Graduate School of Agriculture (GSA) in early June to take part in a week-long "Kyoto Study Program". The program was organized by GSA based on the MoU signed with CSH in 2012.
The eight participants from CSH toured some of GSA's laboratories and an experimental farm, and attended special lectures by Associate Professor Ryutaro Tao (Pomology) and Professor Naoshi Kondo (Bio-Sensing Engineering).
Outside the University, they visited a privately owned organic farm in Kyoto City, a plant factory in Kameoka City, and a global coffee company in Kobe City. These experiences were designed to introduce the participants to various aspects of Japanese agriculture and related sciences and industries from various perspectives. All of the students showed strong interest in the subjects covered, and each received a completion certificate on the final day from GSA Dean Hisashi Miyagawa.
