Kyoto University and the ITER International Fusion Energy Organization (Cadarache, France) entered into an institution-level academic exchange agreement in a signing ceremony held in the Clock Tower Centennial Hall.
President Hiroshi Matsumoto and Professor Osamu Motojima, Director-General of ITER, signed the agreement after discussing the exchange opportunities that the two sides might pursue under the new pact.
An international entity established jointly by six countries -- Japan, Russia, USA, South Korea, China, and India -- and the European Union, ITER is dedicated to building and operating an experimental fusion reactor in Cadarache with the goal of demonstrating the scientific and technological feasibility of fusion energy.
Under the newly signed agreement, the University and the Organization hope to develop an active partnership with each other by conducting internship programs, early-career researcher exchanges, and joint studies.
