KI-ZU-NA's July event was 'Kyoto Gion Festival Kankoboko Visiting Tour'. Students visited the Kankoboko, which is one of the Yamaboko floats that parade in the Gion Festival. They rode on the Hoko(float), and enjoyed the artworks decorating the Hoko(float), which one of them was a Belgian tapestry in the 16th century. They visited the Kankoboko Preservation Association, and studied how they preserve the Kankoboko, support the festival, and the history of the Gion Festival.
This event was a good chance to learn about 'Kankoboko' and interact with other participants.
