A disaster-prevention training session for faculty staff members in charge of disaster prevention at faculties, schools, and institutes was held with more than fifty participants in attendance.

The goal of the training session was to deepen participants' understanding of actions to be taken by faculty staff members and matters to recognize in the event of an earthquake disaster.

A Kyoto municipal government manager in charge of disaster prevention began by giving a lecture, titled "Disaster Prevention Measures by Kyoto City," dealing with the challenges and lessons learned from recent great earthquakes and the city's efforts with repect to disaster prevention.

Later, the university's administrative staff member in charge of crisis management briefed participants on the university's business continuity plan, prepared in December 2013, which assumes damage at the university from a great earthquake.  Then, actions to be taken by faculty staff members based on the plan (including the roles of the university's task force and the countermeasures offices of faculties, schools, and institutes) were also explained, which was followed by an active exchange of questions and answers.

At the end of the session, Nobuo Hayashi (vice-president in charge of crisis management) stated in his speech that he hoped this training session would increase awareness about the importance of disaster-prevention measures involving faculty staff members and accelerate the university's efforts for disaster prevention.
