On Wednesday 19 June, five international KyotoU students attended a ceremony held at the Kyoto Prefectural Citizens Exchange Plaza (Kyoto Terrsa) to mark their appointment as 2024 academic year Kyoto Prefecture Honorary Friendship Ambassadors. These students are Hong Sarang (2nd year, Faculty of Integrated Human Studies), Mo Xuemei (1st year, Master of Business Administration, Professional Degree Program, Graduate School of Management), Hamid Fauzan Abdul (4th year, Faculty of Economics), Juan Pablo Bayona Pena (2nd year, Master's Program, Graduate School of Science), and Li Ming (2nd year, Doctoral Program, Graduate School of Science).

The Honorary Friendship Ambassadors are selected each year from among the international students studying in the prefecture and willing to play the role of a 'bridge' between the prefecture and other parts of the world. The five students were among the 13 chosen for the position this academic year.

The ambassadors are tasked with contributing to the internationalization of Kyoto Prefecture by participating in a wide variety of related activities, including international exchange events hosted by municipalities and elementary and junior high schools and programs run by the prefectural government with its partner provinces, states, and cities. Kyoto University looks forward to the five students’ future success and contributions as the prefecture's Honorary Friendship Ambassadors.
