Kyoto University's Research Resource Archive, or KURRA, takes materials produced or obtained by KyotoU researchers in the course of their work and makes these permanently available for use at and outside the institution.
As part of these efforts, KURRA has recently published the 'Kenichi Fukui papers and records, 1936–1988, bulk 1940–1982', a set of archival materials left by the 1981 chemistry Nobel laureate.
Overview
The materials consist of records of Fukui's work as a researcher and as the organizing committee chair for an international conference. They include minutes and other documents produced in the course of preparing for the Third International Congress of Quantum Chemistry, held in 1979 in Kyoto, as well as research notes, letters to and from other researchers, and manuscripts of a doctoral thesis and other writings, mostly from the 1940s–80s. His notes, which he organized into labeled envelopes and files, cover both the theoretical and experimental aspects of the research process and an extensive range of topics, highlighting the breadth and depth of his scientific interests.
