On 12 February 2021, Student Lounge KIZUNA hosted "Fortune in! Online Setsubun Workshop" as a special edition of its "Online Lounge" weekday Zoom gatherings.
Setsubun is a traditional event held on the day before the beginning of spring in the lunar calendar, to pray for health and happiness for the coming year.
The February workshop began with a brief lecture about the setsubun festival, delivered by KIZUNA's student tutors. Following this introduction, participants, who came from diverse cultural backgrounds, introduced setsubun-like or other pre-spring festivals from their own countries. They also enjoyed chatting in a relaxed atmosphere about topics such as demons and funny superstitions that are part of their cultures.
Afterwards, the tutors led a picture-guessing game using Zoom's virtual whiteboard, for everyone to have fun and make new friends from all over the world.
