On 26 June, the Kyoto University Library Network (KULN) and the Institute for Research in Humanities (IRH) hosted a "Taiwan Lecture on Chinese Studies" at the Center for Informatics in East Asian Studies (CIEAS).
CIEAS is home to a Taiwan Resource Center for Chinese Studies (TRCCS), established December 2016 under the academic exchange agreement between KULN and Taiwan's National Central Library (NCL). TRCCS receives book donations from NCL, and holds Taiwan lectures on Chinese studies on a regular basis.
The event began with remarks from KULN Professor Takashi Hikihara and Mr Liu Guolong, director of culture and education at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka. The lecture entitled "The Digital Humanities in Taiwan: Past, Present, and Future" was then delivered by Professor Chu Ping-Tzu of the Department of the Chinese Literature of Taiwan's National Tsing Hua University.
Afterwards, participants took part in a discussion, moderated by IRH Professor Christian Witten, resulting in a fruitful session.
