KIZUNA presents origami workshop (7 December 2017)

On 7 December, KIZUNA hosted an origami workshop, taught by members of Okoshiyasu-Origami, which offers classes at the Kyoto Prefectural International Center and other venues. KIZUNA presented similar events in summer 2015 and winter 2016 with great success.

In the 2017 event, participants first worked on a "Christmas wreath", a perfect subject for the season. Each chose a favorite combination of eight sheets of colored and patterned paper, and folded and assembled these into unique and exquisite pieces.

Break time was spent engaged in cross-cultural communication, with some taking pictures of others' creations.

Participants then learned to fold a dog, the Chinese zodiac sign for 2018. Working diligently, they produced numerous cute paper dogs, each with uniquely shaped noses and ears, which they then took home as souvenirs.

The event provided a great opportunity for all to experience the traditional art form and to get to know each other.
