On 12 November, Student Lounge KIZUNA held a tour of Amanohashidate and other popular tourist destinations in north Kyoto, with nonprofit Kitakinki-Mirai planning and coordinating the activities.

Traveling by chartered bus, participants first arrived at Yosano Town Dyeing Center, where they took part in a traditional textile dyeing workshop. They each worked with a handkerchief printed with a picture of Amanohashidate, and dyed it in their favorite colors.

A delectable lunch was served at a local hotel, featuring powdered mackerel bara-zushi (sushi with ingredients sprinkled on the rice), a local specialty. The meal was followed by a relaxing bath in the facility's hot spring.

At Amanohashidate, known as one of the three most scenic spots in Japan, participants strolled the length of the pine-forested sandbar under beautiful weather. They then took a cable car up to Kasamatsu Park to enjoy the full spectacle of the "bridge to heaven".

The event proved a great opportunity for participants to experience north Kyoto's numerous attractions and make new friends.
