As the government-designated "Joint Usage/Collaborative Research Center for Multidisciplinary Disaster Prevention Study", Kyoto University's Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) is accepting proposals for collaborative research projects that are in line with its mission to carry out "academic research on natural hazards and multidisciplinary studies for disaster mitigation".
DPRI is currently focusing its efforts on four research areas -- "great earthquake disasters", "meteorological disasters", "volcanic disasters", and "science of disaster risk reduction" -- as well as on the promotion of international research collaboration. It welcomes diverse and unique proposals, but may give preference to those related to the above themes.
