Now in its eighth year, the Tachibana Award for the Most Outstanding Female Researcher was established in 2008 to acknowledge the excellent achievements of early-career women researchers at Kyoto University.
Recipients of the FY2015 Tachibana Award and Honorable Mention Award for both the student and researcher categories have been announced as follows.
An award ceremony will take place Thursday 3 March in the Kaigi-Koen Shitsu (conference-lecture room) on the second floor of Rakuyu Kaikan.
1. About the Tachibana Award for the Most Outstanding Female Researcher
The Tachibana Award for the Most Outstanding Female Researcher recognizes excellent achievements by early-career women researchers at Kyoto University. By publicly honoring women who have produced outstanding work in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences, the Tachibana Award aims to further motivate not only the awardees themselves, but also others following in their footsteps, thereby helping cultivate accomplished women scholars who will lead the future of academic research at Kyoto University and across Japan.
2. Selection process for the FY2015 awards
Applications were received from seven candidates -- three in the student category and four for researchers. In a two-stage screening process, a nine-member committee chaired by Professor Kayo Inaba, Executive Vice-President for Gender Equality, International Affairs, and Public Relations, examined the submitted applications and interviewed short-listed candidates, before deciding on the following selections.
