The ceremony for 2015 Kyoto University Sports Union (KUSU) Award was held recently at the Hotel Heian no Mori.
This award was established in 2007 to honor students who embody and contribute to realizing the principle of KUSU, which is described in its constitution as "improving the university's physical education and physical activities, contributing to enhancing the students' physical and mental capacity, and ennobling their character, so as to foster promising talents with both academic and moral integrity".
Award recipients include not only athletes who accomplished distinguished results, but those who took up new sports after entering the university and showed great progress, and managers and backup players who supported their teams behind the scenes.
This year, fifteen students received awards. At the ceremony, Professor Shigeaki Oda, President of KUSU, handed certificates of the President Award to ten students, and that of the Excellence Award to five students.
