Kyoto University accepts donations through its Kyoto University Foundation, primarily for the purpose of enhancing its education, research, and public service activities. Besides supporting either the university as a whole or students in general, donors can choose to contribute funds to specific departments or programs.
The Kyoto University Foundation has recently established an African Research Fund, which is dedicated to supporting education and research at the Center for African Area Studies. Donations directed to this fund will help the Center with its field-based research on issues relating to contemporary African environments, ecologies, livelihoods, societies, and cultures, and with its training of early-career researchers.
