In celebration of its foundation day on 18 June, Kyoto University hosted its 58th Anniversary Concert titled "The Charm of Pipe Organ Music" at the Kyoto Concert Hall.
The performer was Ms Aya Yoshida, whose appearance marks the second time that the organist has played at a KU-hosted event. Ms Yoshida presented solemn renditions of classical pieces and popular musical songs, and even offered commentary on some of the pieces selected for the occasion.
Concertgoers were clearly enchanted by the world of organ music created by Ms Yoshida. "It's my first experience of listening to live pipe organ music; I was very moved by it," said one. "I also enjoyed the last piece, where everyone was invited to sing along," commented another.
