The 4th ASEAN+3 Heads of International Relations Meeting was held at Kyoto University.
This is an international conference sponsored by AUN (Asean University Network), which brings together vice presidents and other executives for international affairs from AUN member universities and universities in Japan, South Korea and China. More than eighty participants, including observers, attended the conference, which discussed the topic of how to enhance student mobilization.
The program on the first day began with opening remarks by Executive Vice-President Akihiko Akamatsu and Dr. Nantana Gajaseni (AUN executive director). Then, Dr. Osamu Aruga from MEXT (director of the Office for International Planning, Higher Education Policy Planning Division, Higher Education Bureau) gave a keynote speech, which was followed by a discussion on student exchange and a briefing on an Internet-based credit transfer system. On the second day, participants were divided into groups by country in order to discuss student exchange and related obstacles in each country. Then, at the final summary session, a representative from each country gave a summary report.
Throughout the two days of the conference, vigorous discussions took place, making it a valuable opportunity for participating universities to explore the possibilities of further developing student mobility.
