The Dynamics of Foundation
Structures, a Research Section of the Disaster Prevention Research Institute
(DPRI), Kyoto University, invites applications for a full professor
position. This is a permanent faculty position with research emphasis on dynamics of soil-structure systems. The successful candidate is expected to carry out research on theories and applications of soil-structure systems including foundation structures, underground structures, and other civil engineering structures. Contributions to the advancement of seismic design and construction of such systems are also expected. The successful candidate has to take responsibilities for teaching graduate courses and supervising the research of graduate students. He/she should be proficient in Japanese. Employment is expected to begin as soon as possible after the anticipated decision is announced in mid-2005. Applicants should prepare the following materials: curriculum vitae, complete bibliography (classified into peer-reviewed papers, books and book chapters, and other technical writings), copies of five representative papers, a summary of research and contributions (up to two A4 pages), statement of research plans and interests (up to three A4 pages), and recommendation letters or names of references (up to five individuals, including their addresses, fax numbers, and e-mail addresses).
